Chicago Trip Redux
By Gooch | August 30, 2007
The trip to Chicago was a very nice trip. It was nice to get away and also to show Jo someplace new. I got to see my brother and I got to surprise Jo with a very nice present. All in all I’m ready to go back. So without further ado, here are the highlights . . .
- I-80 in PA sucks big fat donkey balls. It’s 2 lanes across the entire state (with the exception of like 3 miles) and they’re doing road work which shuts it down to one lane in about 5 different spots. Luckily I only hit bad traffic for one of them each way.
- Driving the Indiana Toll Road early Thursday morning there was a lot of lightning but I didn’t make anything of it. All of a sudden, the skies open up and this wall of water comes down to the point whenre I had to get off at the next rest area (luckily pretty close to where it started) and wait for the rain to at least slow down. The lightning also got Cray and seemed to be flashing right in front of me. That’s how bright it was when it flashed.
- My brother needing to go to Costco and picking us up and driving through sometimes flooded streets.
- Jo having her first piece of Chicago-style pizza courtesy of Giordano’s.
- Surprising Jo at 2:30 in the morning with her best friend, Gus from Miami, who himself had a VERY interesting trip up.
- Chatty Cathy.
- Taking pictures at Millennium Park (especially for one particular picture).
- Superdawg!
- Wrigley Field.
- Seeing the building my brother worked on (it’s huge).
- The Sears Tower.
- Bakers Square (Mmmmmm . . . pie!)
- Finally getting to try Cici’s Pizza.
- Navy Pier
- Cheeseburger in Paradise.
- Actually being happy to see a “Welcome to New Jersey” sign.
The pictures for the trip are up here.
I wonder when the next road trip will be. 🙂
